Student Vocational Site Spotlight: Greenhouse & Garden Shop
The Cushing MarketPlace Greenhouse & Garden Shop is one of Student Service’s most popular vocational worksites, located in the Hanover Cushing neighborhood. Students train there weekly and help grow seedlings in the greenhouse over the winter, amend the soil and plant the seedlings in the spring, and then harvest over Summer and Fall – creating a year-round experience for students that teaches not only sustainable gardening practices but also money counting, shelf stocking, and more. It also encourages a healthier lifestyle, since the students are more likely to try veggies that they have grown themselves!
