Cushing Centers Receives Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation “Community Giving” Grant

Cardinal Cushing Centers is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $45,000 grant from the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. The funds are earmarked for programs that help students with intellectual disabilities gain valuable skills that will create job opportunities in the community.

“Cardinal Cushing Centers tremendously impacts the lives of so many families throughout the South Shore,” said Andrea Borowiecki, Vice President of Community Giving and Engagement at Rockland Trust and Executive Director of the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation. “The services and support they provide empower people of all ages and all abilities to live full and meaningful lives, and we are proud to be a longtime partner of their organization.”

The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation’s philanthropic mission is to strengthen the communities served by the Bank. By providing grants in the focus areas of affordable housing, children and youth, small business support, and financial inclusion and workforce development, they enable individuals and their families to access opportunity and improve the quality of their lives.

“Rockland Trust has been an active and steadfast supporter of Cardinal Cushing over the many years of our partnership. This new grant exemplifies just how committed they are to uplifting the South Shore community,” notes Cushing President and CEO Michelle Markowitz. “These funds will be used to support salaries and cover program materials to help grow our vocational programs for the 16-22 age group, which are vital for creating a sense of purpose and instilling independence.”

In addition to awarding Cardinal Cushing Centers with various program grants over the year, Rockland Trust has been the leading event sponsor of the St. Coletta Golf Classic, a sponsor of the Springtime Gala, and provides holiday gifts for students and adults served by the Cardinal Cushing organization. The Bank’s colleagues have also served on Cardinal Cushing’s board of directors and board of advisors, and have volunteered on several of their committees over many years.
