Student with Autism Wins Country Music Award

Cushing Student Trevor J. was recently awarded the North America Country Music Associations, International (NACMAI) 2012 Rising Star Male Vocalist award in his age category (13-16 years)!

The NACMAI Country Music Week competition involves amateur competitors in various categories and in multiple age brackets from all over the country. Contestants competed in front of a panel of music professionals during the week of March 11 through March 17th at the Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN. Competitors were judged on quality of performance, star quality, tightness of performance, stage presence, and how well their material reflected their chosen music style.

Trevor’s family is from Rockland, MA and also participated in NACMAI’s Country Music Week. His father, Dean, received the 2012 Instrumentalist of the Year, New Country award. Mom Ginny was awarded the title of Most Promising Female Entertainer, New Gospel.
