Milton Family Recognized for “Legacy of Giving” to People with Disabilities

MILTON (March 3, 2025) The Vitti family welcomed their daughter, Francesca, into this world on Christmas Eve in 2001 – and because of her intellectual disabilities, they prepared themselves for an unexpected journey. One of the roads of that journey led them to Cardinal Cushing Centers – a South Shore nonprofit organization that supports over 600 adults and students with intellectual disabilities every year.
When Francesca arrived at Cushing, she was a day student – enjoying academics, art & music, and various therapeutic modalities. As she grew older she transitioned into a vocational program, and moved to one of Cushing’s residential homes where she lived with peers and gained independence. The more Francesca thrived, the more involved the Vitti Family became with the organization.
Her father, Jerry, joined the Board of Directors, and eventually became the Board Chair. Her sister Celia helped to organize Cushing’s 5K, which was held in Milton, and raised money under “Team Frankie.” They, plus Francesca’s mom, Erin, and brother, Anthony, were involved with every major Cushing project and fundraising initiative – becoming vocal champions for the organization.
“Cardinal Cushing Centers has changed our lives for the better,” touts Francesca’s father, Jerry – who founded a healthcare company that secures vital healthcare benefits for vulnerable populations. “We watched her grow and thrive and become the best version of herself, and we knew we needed to give back.”
Because of their ongoing commitment, the Vitti Family of Milton were just named this year’s recipients of the “Richard Cardinal Cushing Award” – which will be presented to them at Cushing’s annual “Springtime” fundraising event. The event, held at Seaport Hotel Boston on May 22, will be a joyous celebration of those with disabilities who are living their best lives.
