Meaningful Employment and Community Engagement
South Shore Industries (SSI) is a Day Program, supported by DDS, that helps adults with disabilities become active members of their community while experiencing the training, skills, and opportunities they need to find competitive and integrated employment - with plans tailored to each individual’s preferences, skills and needs.
Program Type - Vocational

Job seekers receive the support to:
- Explore employment settings; enhance employment skills; participate in volunteer programs and community-based work crews.
- Obtain employment-related training in areas such as resume writing, interviewing skills, appropriate social boundaries, and community safety.
- Gain the confidence and tools to succeed in the workplace, a vital part of living a full, meaningful and independent life as an active community member.

Life Opportunities Unlimited (LOU)
Meaningful and Healthy Lives
Supported by MassHealth, and designed to provide specialized therapeutic services to increase independent living and good health in participating individuals. This innovative and goal-oriented Day Habilitation Program is led by trained and caring staff, with input from nurses and physical, occupational, speech, and behavioral therapists.
Program Type - Day/Work Activity
Locations - Hanover and Braintree, MA
Program Hours - Participants will be assessed for their unique skills and learning styles to develop an individualized schedule of activities from 8:30 – 2:30 Monday – Friday
Program Goals - Days will be focused on advocacy, independent living, communication, and social, affective, sensory-motor & behavioral development. Group activities such as artistic expression, music therapy, exercise, nutrition, and media/computer time are included in the program.
In addition to working on the development of these skills, participants are encouraged to interact and engage with the community through activities such as:
- Volunteering at Meals on Wheels
- Volunteering at Senior Centers
- Gardening
- Food shopping
- Bowling
- Library
Additionally, everyone is provided weekly with ongoing learning & discussion forums in the areas of basic human rights, health & safety issues, universal precautions, current events, money management, & interpersonal social skill development.
