Cardinal Cushing Centers Announces Gift from GE Executive
Every year, GE Chairman & CEO Jeff Immelt recognizes leaders from across the company with the Chairman’s Award for outstanding performance and leadership. The award comes with the opportunity to designate a $25,000 contribution to a charitable organization of the recipient’s choice.
Cardinal Cushing Centers is honored to be the recipient of this generous contribution from Deirdre Latour, Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for GE. Latour was among other executives at GE presented with this prestigious award, and she was thrilled to further contribute to Cardinal Cushing Centers’ Changing Lives, Building a Community capital campaign. Latour recently was elected to Cushing’s Board of Directors.
“I want to see Cushing’s vision for the future succeed. Their plan to create an integrated neighborhood where people with and without disabilities live, learn, work and socialize together in the same space is innovative and exciting, and I am delighted to share my gift in support of this cutting-edge project,” said Latour.
The Cardinal Cushing Centers’ campaign, Changing Lives, Building a Community, accomplishes three goals:
- Adds a new state-of-the-art building to the organization’s Hanover location, raising visibility in the community
- Enhances educational and job training opportunities available to students and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Ensures sustainable funding for maintenance in the future
