A Message from the President and CEO

Cardinal Cushing Centers is pleased
to announce the appointment of
Michelle Markowitz as President & CEO

Dear Members of the Cushing Community,

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Michelle Markowitz as President & CEO of the Cardinal Cushing Centers, Inc. effective June 5, 2020. As you know, Michelle offers over 20 years of service to the Cushing Centers with more than a decade serving on the Senior Leadership Team.

Michelle began her tenure at Cushing as a volunteer at the St. Coletta Day School in Braintree while she was attending Archbishop Williams High School. Since joining the staff, she has held a variety of positions, including working in the education and residential departments prior to assuming the role of Vice President of Admissions and Administration. Michelle held the position of Chief Operating Officer at the time that she was named Interim President & CEO in January of 2020, just a few weeks before the world changed due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

During her brief tenure as Interim President & CEO, Michelle has made an incredible impact on the Cushing Community. Steadfast, resolute in the face of adversity, dedicated, compassionate, and understanding – Michelle is exactly who we have needed to help us navigate the uncertain times of managing the impact of COVID-19 and who we will need when we get to the other side of this crisis. We cannot envision Cardinal Cushing Centers without Michelle at the helm.

We believed that Michelle was the right person to run this unique and complex organization, but her ability to lead staff and families so remarkably well in the face of all the challenges COVID-19 has brought to our community has strongly underscored that she is the right choice.

Michelle has her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Bridgewater State College and a Certificate in Contemporary Practices in Developmental Disabilities Leadership & Management from the Institute for Community Inclusion, School for Global Inclusion & Social Development at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She is an active member of the Association of Directors of Development, Admissions and Marketing (ADDAM), Evolving Women, and the South Shore Young Professionals Group.

Please join us in congratulating Michelle!
